Gibbo unhappy over Neath date

Gibbo unhappy over Neath date

Neath have approached the club to see if we would consider playing the rearranged game on Tuesday 23rd February at the Gnoll but manager Neil Gibson is unhappy with this and wants the game played on a weekend when we don't have a Friday fixture beforehand.

Speaking to Seasiders Online he said: "Neath contacted us to suggest that we might consider a Tuesday game but this is not ideal as of course it is a midweek fixture which would force us to encounter all sorts of problems. On the day of the postponement John Deakin (WPL chief executive) was present and said that he would do all he could to ensure that we replayed the match on a weekend.

"Neath have only suggested one weekend date so far which was on a date that would mean us playing two away matches on the same weekend getting home from Airbus at 11:30pm on the Friday night and setting off 31 hours later at 7am Sunday to get to Neath, while that weekend they have no arranged fixture so would be coming into the game completely fresh!

"It seems that Neath struggle for free dates as they share a ground with the rugby club, but that is their problem - not ours. I would say no to this requested date and ask for another and if we can't reach an agreement let the league decide."
