Careless whispers...

Careless whispers...

It seems there are a few rumours knocking round at the moment that some players - including the popular Steve 'Jolly' Rogers - are on their way out of Bastion Gardens to other clubs. I asked the secretary to clarify the situation and he told me that although a couple of other WPL clubs have put in seven days notice of approach for certain players (which they are perfectly entitled to do), all our first team regulars and squad men are under contract and when the interested parties learned of this they withdrew their notice. No-one is going anywhere!

Whilst rumours are an inevitable consequence of the transfer window these "whispers" can be unsettling for some. Far from weakening the squad, it would be good if the "whisperers" could find a way of raising more funds for the club so that we might be able to strengthen the squad and build on the progress that Gibbo and his boys have made this season. The committee have backed Gibbo to the hilt this season and must be commended for their work, but wouldn't it be fantastic if some of the more affluent fans could come up with a few hundred quid more to ensure we make the "Super 10 or 11 or 12"

Actually Willo it's going to be Sign Me Up Before You Go Go! Or if any players actually want to leave it will have to be Freedom. Players wanting to join would have to give a note perfect rendition of Gib-bo, I'm Your Man!
