PRESTATYN TOWN 1 (Parker 27) BANGOR CITY 1 (Ward 51)
WELSH PREMIER LEAGUE - MARCH 12, 2010
THREE worrying injury concerns emerged for Prestatyn from last night's bruising encounter against Bangor City at Bastion Road.
Midfielder Gareth Wilson left the action after just 14 minutes with a suspected broken collar bone, while Michael Parker and Jon Fisher-Cooke were also taken off with hamstring pulls.
Wilson is expected to be out of action for up to six weeks but has set his sights on returning for the Welsh Cup semi-final with Bangor on April 10.
The only consolation for Town is they now have seven days rest before their next game at Newtown and they fully deserve it after three testing clashes in six days in which they have emerged unbeaten.
The opening quarter against Bangor was marred by bad challenges, stoppages, injuries and free-kicks - and there was very little goalmouth action.
That began to change when City's Nicky Ward forced Jon Hill-Dunt into a fine save from a 25-yard strike in the 23rd minute.
A minute later Prestatyn took the lead when a Jack Lewis free-kick was cleared to the left and from the resulting cross Parker fired in from 12 yards.
Town could have made it 2-0 when Andy Moran's free-kick was only punched as far as Neil Gibson whose volley flew off target.
A Lewis free-kick was then met by a poor clearance from Bangor keeper Paul Smith, Fisher-Cooke's shot was blocked and Paul O'Neill's reactive effort missed the target.
Lee Hunt cut in from the left but lashed wide of Hill-Dunt's post before Steve Rogers was clattered by Smith chasing Fisher-Cooke's through ball but the keeper only received a yellow card as the Prestatyn front man was not denied a clear run on goal.
HALF-TIME: Prestatyn 1 Bangor 0
Six minutes into the second half O'Neill was adjudged to have fouled Jamie Reed outside the area and the resultant left-foot free-kick from Ward was curled beyond the diving Hill-Dunt to make it 1-1.
There was controversy on 63 minutes when James Brewerton was adjudged to have committed a dangerous tackle on Rogers in the box and referee Matt Bridges pointed to the penalty spot.
There was a long delay as Rogers was attended to, then as Moran was ready to line the penalty up, Bridges changed his mind as his assistant had blown up for an offside before the challenge on Rogers.
Prestatyn put their frustration aside and stormed on to the attack, Parker going so close with a left foot attempt which rolled inches past the post.
Bangor remained a danger, but Town were creating the better chances, Rogers forcing a fine stop from Smith with a low shot on 83 minutes.
Substitute Ashley Stott drilled across the face of goal for the visitors and Chris Roberts' delivery from the left almost caught Hill-Dunt out, but Prestatyn so nearly snatched it two minutes into injury time.
Lewis charged down an attempted clearance and was in on goal, but Smith was quickly off his line to smother his strike.
PRESTATYN: Hill-Dunt, C Davies, Lewis, Hayes, O'Neill, Wilson (Fisher-Cooke 14 - Dan Evans 72), Parker (Hoult 70), Gibson, Moran, Rogers, Hannen.
